RAIL commuters faced widespread cancellations and long delays this evening after a person was hit by a train in West Yorkshire.

Northern Rail reported at least seven cancellations on services to and from Leeds, Bradford, Skipton and Ilkley following the incident.

A passenger at Bradford Forster Square station contacted The Yorkshire Post to say: “We’ve been told there is a fatality and that there will be no trains for hours.

“It’s complete chaos. No-one seems to know what is happening and they say there are no replacement buses.”
