Traffic chaos as car fire closes A64 between York and Leeds

COMMUTERS faced rush hour chaos today after a car fire closed part of the A64 between York and Leeds.

At one point the road was completely closed.

Even after a lane opened, traffic was queuing in both directions in Tadcaster between Paradise Lane and the A659 at Newton Kyme.

The incident, the the east of the A1(M) was affecting traffic into and out of Leeds.
