The Rugby Football Union offered every rugby club and secondary school in Yorkshire 10 free tickets to the event, bringing 2,500 smiling fans to the fields.

Lancaster, who got the likes of Morley’s Iraq war veteran Simon Brown to motivate the players, said: “It reminds the players about what it means to be an England player and that’s probably the most important thing for me, so for the players and coaches last night they’ll remember that forever and for the guys that have watched it today, they’ll remember it for a long time.”

It’s the first time they’ve trained in public in England, outside Twickenham, in around a decade.

People around the world are marking Earth Hour this evening. People in Britain are expected to join in at 8.30pm... and then they will switch their clocks forward tonight as British Summer Time begins.

Get ready to turn your clocks forward... but before that expect things to get much darker
