It was a stirring front page editorial that was applauded by both readers and international media in the wake of the floods that devastated Leeds.

An image on the front of the YEP, which featured a submerged car on Viaduct Road in Leeds, was retweeted hundreds of times on Twitter.

Our headline - “Indefensible” - led our demand that Mr Cameron ensured the situation is not repeated in Leeds or anywhere else ever again.

Our front page has been shortlisted for an award at the Regional Press Awards.

Reporter Lindsay Pantry has also been shortlisted in the daily journalist of the year category for the awards that honour the work of the local press.

Reporter Jonathan Brown recently scooped a prize at the Johnston Press Awards for the title’s Be a Hero campaign to boost organ donation.
