Terrifying CCTV pictures show man aiming gun in Leeds building society armed robbery

Terrifying CCTV images showing a man pointing a gun during a building society robbery in Leeds have been released.

Detectives issued the footage after two masked men burst into Leeds Building Society, in Station Road, Crossgates, at 12.50pm yesterday (Wednesday).

The shocking pictures show one of the suspects pulling out a handgun and aiming it, as well as the car the robbers used to flee.

During the incident yesterday, the men threatened staff and customers before stealing cash from the building society.

They left in a car, believed to be a silver or grey five-door Vauxhall Corsa, with a 59-plate onwards.

The men were described as white, between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 11ins tall and we wearing grey hoodies and jogging bottoms. 

Detective Inspector Phil Jackson, of Leeds District CID, said: "The CCTV image of the man with the gun clearly illustrates how frightening this incident was for the staff and customers involved.

"We are continuing to carry out extensive enquiries into the robbery today and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.

"We are also keen to hear from anyone who saw the vehicle as it left the scene or who has any information that could assist us in identifying it."
