a MAJOR expansion of Greenside Primary School in Pudsey has begun, with the approval of the creation of temporary classrooms ahead of the main build next year.

A full on refurbishment the school, costing £4.3m, is scheduled to be complete in November 2018. It will expand pupil numbers from 315 places to 420 pupil places from September 2017.

Leeds City Council has just signed off an “Early Works Agreement” to manage the interim “decant” arrangements”.

The £574,000 pre-works are expected to start on site by the end of July, with completion by the end of the year.

The full project will include “remodelling” of the reception classrooms and a new two storey extension. The existing 1970s extension will be demolished.
