A teenager was caught on camera sexually assaulting a vulnerable pensioner in her own home.

A court heard how Aaron Kenworthy, 19, was arrested after social services set up a hidden camera inside the Leeds home of his victim, who has physical and mental difficulties.

The covert camera captured footage of Kenworthy trying to kiss the woman and touch her breasts against her will.

Leeds Crown Court was told the victim, who is in her sixties, was unable to look after her financial affairs due to her difficulties.

Prosecutor Dave Mackay said the victim had complained to the authorities about youths targeting her home and taking advantage of her since 2008.

Kenworthy was arrested after an incident which was filmed on the covert camera in the woman’s home on March 1 last year.

The teenager was recorded as he told the victim he loved her before trying to kiss her.

The woman told Kenworthy to stop and said she did not like what he was doing.

Kenworthy continued to make sexual remarks before trying to kiss her again and touching her breasts.

The woman again told Kenworthy to stop and asked for her phone so she could contact her social worker and the police.

Kenworthy, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to two offences of sexual assault.

The court heard he is currently serving a custodial sentence for violent offences.

Felicity Hemlin, mitigating, said: “These are nasty offences which he has pleaded guilty to.”

Miss Hemlin asked that her client be given credit for admitting the offences at an early stage so that the matter did not go to trial.

She added that there has been no recollection of these events by the complainant.

Kenworthy was sentenced to eight months in a young offenders institution.

He was also told he must go on the sex offenders register for 10 years.

Sentencing Kenworthy, Judge Guy Kearl, QC, said: “She has mental health and mobility problems and you took advantage of this.

“You have previously been told to stay away from her.”
