Teenage girl with legs locked round lamppost freed by firefighters

Have your say

FIREFIGHTERS had to rescue a 13-year-old girl who became stuck to a lamppost in North Yorkshire.

The incident happened on Hipswell Hall Road, Catterick Garrison, shortly before 9pm yesterday - crews from Colburn attended the scene.

A spokeswoman said the girl had been involved in “an internet prank gone wrong” after getting her legs stuck around a lamppost.

She added firefighters used manpower to free the girl, who was unharmed.

The leg-locking position is said by safety groups to be dangerous as it leaves the person trapped and unable to free themselves.
