A FUNDRAISING talent competition is set to raise money for a Leeds mum who remains in hospital seven months after suffering sudden life-changing brain bleeds.

A panel of Yorkshire’s favourite soap stars will be judging 12 acts at the ‘Yorkshire has Talent’ event on Saturday January 10 at the Engine Shed in Wetherby,

Proceeds will go towards funding major rehabilitation for mum-of-one Gemma Newman, 40, of Chapel Allerton.

Mrs Newman collapsed after suffering brain bleeds in May and has undergone life-saving operations.

She faces a long and challenging road towards regaining independence.

Friends who have organised the talent competition say tickets are sold out but more donations are still needed to help fund Mrs Newman’s ongoing rehabilitation.

Friend Kendra Verity said; “We have been overwhelmed by the level of support for Yorkshire Has Talent.”
