Move over Simon Cowell and X Factor – the talented musicians of Brass Factor are coming to a town near you.

Six brass bands will be aiming to wow the audience and a panel of expert judges when the annual competition is held on Saturday, November 12, at Wetherby’s Engine Shed venue.

Entrants hoping to hit the high notes in the contest include Kippax Band, Wetherby Band, Ripon City Band and Elland Silver Band.

Established in 2010 by music lover and cornet player Alex Bray, Brass Factor has been held each year since then at Holmfirth’s Picturedrome.

The Engine Shed was added as a second venue in 2014 as part of a push to expand the competition and eventually take it nationwide.

Alex told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “I am incredibly excited for the launch of Brass Factor this year and plans are in place for it to be just as fantastic an event as in previous years.

“The support we have gained since 2010 has been phenomenal and if some of this can be transferred into promoting brass band culture and young talent, then the event has fulfilled its objectives.”

Brass Factor has raised thousands of pounds for charity over the last six years and Martin House Children’s Hospice, near Wetherby, will be one of the beneficiaries of 2016’s event.

For further information about the competition including ticket purchase details, visit the www.brassfactor.com website or follow @BrassFactor10 on Twitter.

The Holmfirth leg of Brass Factor will take place this year on Saturday, November 19.
