A takeaway boss owner has been fined after selling a Lamb Korma actually made from beef.

Abid Khalil, who runs the Royal Balti Takeaway on Wakefield Road, Normanton, appeared at Wakefield and Pontefract Magistrates Court, where he pleaded guilty to an offence under the Food Safety Act.

He was fined £300 with a £30 victim surcharge and ordered to pay £1,000 costs.

The fraud was detected after a random sampling from officers at West Yorkshire Trading Standards.
