A MAN who was running a brothel in Ossett has been given a suspended prison sentence.
Kevin Wrigglesworth, 47, of Ridings Way, Wakefield, was arrested in January 2011 after a raid at his home and was later charged with being concerned in prostitution for gain and money laundering offences.
He pleaded guilty to the offences yesterday at Leeds Crown Court and was given an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for twelve months.
An investigation by West Yorkshire Police’s economic crime unit found that Wrigglesworth was living off earnings from a sauna in Ossett, which was being used as a brothel.
Two CCTV tapes were seized from his home, which showed men entering the building, paying money and then going into the back of the premises.
Female employees can be seen wearing provocative clothing and are just wrapped in towels on some occasions.
Also seized from Wrigglesworth’s home were 27 pornographic DVDs and a book about the law for sex workers.
DI Fran Naughton, who leads the economic crime unit, said: “Kevin Wrigglesworth was running an illegal business.
“We will be looking at the money he earned through crime and will be seizing his assets via a confiscation order.
“Decent people do not want to be living near brothels and by removing this illegal business, we are making things better for the people living and working nearby.”
