A superhero dropped in at a Leeds school to save the day after a teddy bear got stuck on a roof.

Year one pupils at Ryecroft Academy spent a morning at school coming up with ideas and creating help posters to save the teddy that was stuck on the school’s roof. Comic book hero Spiderman visited the school in the afternoon, and spoke to pupils before climbing a wall to rescue the furry bear.

Teacher Francesca Baker said: “The children made help posters to get teddy down and in the afternoon, Spiderman appeared at school and spoke to pupils in the classroom about how to save it.

“The children have been talking about Spiderman all week and even written thank you letters to him.”

The day was organised by school staff to kick start pupils’ new topic on heroes. Before Spiderman saved the bear - a super villain swooped in and the pair battled.
