Students gain medals in Malta

Meanwood students have netted four medals for Great Britain in an international sporting competition in Malta.

The teenagers, from Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School, competed in the 2015 International Sports Federation for Catholic Schools Games (the FISEC Games).

Conor Hopkinson, 15, won silver in the 4 x 400m relay and bronze in the 4 x 100m relay while swimmer Zara Paniagua-Gutierrez – the youngest competitor in the games at 13 – won silver in the 400m individual medley. Footballer Jonathan Nyantou, 16, collected a silver medal and scored in a 3-0 victory over The Netherlands. Megan Driscoll, 15, was the female GB athletics captain for the contest and finished fourth in the 3000m.
