West Yorkshire’s two Michelin-starred restaurants retained their rankings when the annual gourmet awards were dished out yesterday.

Michael O’Hare’s The Man Behind The Curtain in Leeds and the Box Tree in Ilkley, run by husband and wife team Rena and Simon Gueller, have one star apiece.

For the Box Tree, the star is the 14th in a row from the Michelin guide, whose accolade is coveted by restaurateurs the world over.

Mr Gueller, said: “After 14 years you know you must be doing something right, but it’s vital you don’t let complacency set in.

“Our customers all come expecting something special and it’s our job to make that a reality.”

With six stars across the three Ridings, Yorkshire has more Michelin starred restaurants than any region outside London.
