Ever wondered what a pumpkin version of Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino would look like? - well you can find out for yourself this weekend.

Trinity Leeds is promising shoppers a ‘spooktacular’ weekend of Halloween fun including a 30-foot pumpkin patch, live pumpkin carving and tasty treats in the form of edible creepy crawlies.

Taking centre stage in the spectacular Halloween display – which spans the full length of the walkway across Trinity Leeds – are two ‘gruesome’ public figures carved into pumpkins: Donald Trump and Whites’ owner Cellino came top in a public vote to find the most frightful figures around.

Leading artists will also be live carving pumpkins in a huge pumpkin patch, while visitors will be able to take the ‘Trick or TrEAT challenge’ involving edible insects from around the world.

Trinity Leeds has shipped in a consignment of ten thousand cooked insects which have been cleansed, freeze-dried, dehydrated and cooked.

The free menu includes: mealworms, silkworm pupae, African mopane worms, Mexican grasshoppers, flying termites, South American queen leafcutter ants, Chinese wild black ants, as well as giant water bugs.

Dan Wharton, Marketing Manager at Trinity Leeds, said: “We’ve got Halloween covered this weekend with one of the biggest pumpkin patches the city has seen.

“We’ll have live demonstrations not to mention famous lookalikes carved into pumpkins.

“We wanted to feature some scary pumpkin faces and Donald Trump and Massimo Cellino came top in our poll, so we hope not to frighten visitors too much.”

The Trinity Leeds Halloween fun begins at 11am on Saturday, October 29 and runs until Monday.

Live pumpkin carving and the terrifying tasting menu run on Saturday and Sunday.
