A young paramedic from Morley is flying high after swapping land ambulances for helicopters.

Kit Von-Mickwitz is one of seven candidates chosen for a two-year secondment with Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) following a rigorous selection process and training including underwater escape and mountain rescue skills.

The 25 year-old qualified as a paramedic in 2012 after a three-year University diploma course in paramedic science.

He said: “It is a very different culture and way of working, particularly around the aviation side of the job. You are a member of the air crew so there are a lot of new skills to learn, but I am really enjoying it and am part of a really good, supportive team.”
