It was a case of ‘lights, camera, action!’ at Trinity Shopping Centre in Leeds today, when national sweetheart and acclaimed actress Sheridan Smith took centre stage to film her latest role.

Fresh from her recent small screen success Cilla – in which Smith played Scouse star Cilla Black – the actress sported an entirely different look during the filming in Leeds.

With close cropped hair and a plain blue blouse, Smith was all set to play grieving widow Jo Gillespie who, following the death of her undercover police officer husband, vows to discover who murdered him.

The drama, titled Black Work, is being filmed at locations around the city – including Trinity Kitchen in the shopping centre.

A spokesman for the show said: “Black Work is a compelling three-part story which sees police officer Jo confront difficult truths about her family life and her marriage to Ryan.”

The drama was written by Matt Charman and is being produced by Mammoth Screen.
