Section of A1(M) motorway to be closed 'for several hours’ following serious crash

National Highways says the A1(M) in West Yorkshire is closed northbound between J44 (Aberford) and J45 (Boston Spa) following to a serious collision.

West Yorkshire Police are currently on scene carrying out collision investigation work. The closure is expected to remain in place for several hours.

Road users are advised to follow the Hollow Circle diversion symbol on road signs.

Exit the A1(M) ay J44 then at the roundabout, take the third exit onto Spen Common Lane and travel two miles to the junction with Thorner Road.

At the junction turn left onto Thorner Road and proceed for 11 meters to the local access road.

At the junction turn right onto the local access road and proceed for approximately 2 miles to the roundabout with the A659.

At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A659 and continue for 200 meters then re-join the A1(M) at J45.

West Yorkshire Police have been approached for more information.
