Leeds families can enjoy seaside-style fun on their doorsteps this summer by visiting the city’s very own urban beach.

The attraction is running in Millennium Square from today until September 3 and is open daily from 10.30am to 6pm.

Entry to the City Beach area is free, with seating and deck chairs available on a first come, first served basis.

Children’s rides and activities are on offer while a BBQ grill and a sweets and icy slush stall are serving up a selection of suitably tasty treats.

Taking place for the fifth year, the event has been organised by International Funfairs in partnership with Leeds City Council.

Council leader Coun Judith Blake said: “City Beach is always one of the highlights of the summer and it’s great to see the fun of the seaside return to Millennium Square.

“It’s an event which also brings together thousands of families at the heart of the city centre each and every year and helps them to make some wonderful memories.”

Roger Tuby, from International Funfairs, said: “City Beach is a wonderful event that all of the family can enjoy and we are delighted once again to be able to support the council in bringing a taste of a traditional beach experience to the people of Leeds.”

Music at the attraction is being provided by media partner Heart Yorkshire.
