Search called off as reports of man in river at Leeds Dock are unconfirmed

A search for a man who reportedly fell into the River Aire at Leeds Dock has been called off for today (Sunday).

Fire crews and police were alerted at about 1.30pm following reports that a man had slid down the bank into the water.

The police helicopter was also dispatched to assist and the bridge over the river was shut while searches were carried out.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said it remained unclear whether the initial report was correct and the situation would be reassessed on Monday morning.
