the festive season got off to a flying start when scores of speedy Santas took part in a fundraising park dash for a local hospice.

Stockeld Park in Wetherby was the venue for the third annual charity run in aid of Martin House Children’s Hospice.

The event was held in the sculpture-filled Enchanted Forest, and family and friends cheered on the runners from the sidelines.

Susie Grant, owner of Stockeld Park, said: “We’re delighted to be able to support Martin House Children’s Hospice by hosting this year’s Santa run.” Martin House events manager Caroline House, added it was “a fun event in a wonderful Christmas environment” and thanked everyone who took part. The hospice needs £4.9m in 2014 to help care for poorly children and their families.
