They’ve been working together as judges relatively harmoniously on the latest series of talent-show The Voice.
But it has been revealed that the BBC talent show is not the first place where music superstars Ricky Wilson and Paloma Faith have both worked.
The Kaiser Chiefs frontman and pop songstress worked in Milo, a bar on Leeds’ Call Lane, over a decade ago - and Ricky acted as Paloma’s supervisor.
Paloma made the revelation during a recent episode of The Voice – and said she still resents Ricky for bossing her around.
She said: “It just goes to show – be careful on the way up because you might meet them on the way down.”
Ricky revealed that he used to make Paloma carry barrels through the bar.
He said: “I was her boss.
“She was an amazing barmaid.I think it made her the woman she is today.
“It’s weird, isn’t it?”
Paloma worked at Milo while she completed dance training at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance.
And West Yorkshire-born Ricky is believed to still have her number saved in his phone as “Paloma Work” because she hasn’t changed it since her barmaid days.
Current manager of Milo Gareth Hughes said there is no one at the bar now who worked with Ricky or Paloma but that “they are proud of all their staff”.
Ricky has already announced that he is leaving The Voice after this series – and this summer, along with the rest of Kaiser Chiefs, he will play one of his biggest gigs yet.
The band are set to perform in Dalby Forest, near Pickering, on June 26 as part of the Forestry Commission’s ‘Forest Live’.
Income generated from ticket sales goes back into preserving and protecting the forest for future generations.
Ricky said: “As a band we’ve always loved to play outdoors, we’ve done fields, parks, farms, rooftops, beaches and back gardens, but this will be the first time we’ve played in a forest.
“If you go down to the woods this summer, you’re sure of a big surprise. We’re really looking forward to being part of Forest Live.”
Leeds College of Music alumni John Newman will also play at Dalby Forest over the summer.
The Settle-born soul singer will perform a gig on June 25.
