LEEDS Rhinos star Danny McGuire has thrown his weight behind a campaign to keep people safe this winter.

Danny took time out from his training schedule ahead of a big match tonight against New Zealand to show his support for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Cherished Campaign.

The campaign offers tips and advice to keep older people safe during the winter months.

He said: “The winter months are upon us so we all should do our bit to look out for older friends, relatives and neighbours to help keep them safe and well.

“The Fire Service’s Cherished Campaign gives some really important advice, including 10 top tips for a safe winter so please take a moment to check it out.”

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Dave Walton said: “We really appreciate the support from Leeds Rhinos and Danny McGuire and we hope rugby supporters, and indeed the wider population of Leeds and West Yorkshire, will act on this reminder to pop in on the older people in their lives and contact the Fire Service for a free home visit if you have any concerns.”
