A reindeer selfie competition is offering social media fans in Leeds a chance to win a range of prizes in time for Christmas.
Magical Leeds – the city’s official winter tourism campaign – has teamed up with Trinity Leeds, Northern Ballet and Opera North for the contest, which is inviting people to take a selfie with any one of the ten statues on the Leeds Reindeer Trail, and then tweet their pics to @VisitLeeds using the #MagicalLeeds hashtag.
The winner will take home a £200 Trinity Leeds gift card and two tickets to Swan Lake by Northern Ballet, while two runners-up will get two tickets each to see an Opera North production.
The competition was inspired by the reindeer trail – a collection of ten decorated reindeer statues across the city –which launched last year.
It has been organised as part of the latest phase of VisitLeeds and Leeds Business Improvement District (BID)’s campaign Magical Leeds. It aims to highlight what Leeds can offer visitors and engage the public with key businesses, events and attractions during the festive season. The statues are located in Trinity Leeds, Trinity Kitchen, Victoria Quarter, The Light, Merrion Centre, Leeds Corn Exchange, Leeds City Museum, Millennium Square, Kirkgate Market and Leeds Railway Station.
Visitors to the city will also be able to find real reindeer from 10.30am to 4.30pm every Saturday at Leeds Kirkgate Market and on December 6, 14 and 21 at the Merrion Centre. The contest is being hosted on VisitLeeds’ Twitter page and will close on Tuesday, December 15. The winners will be chosen by Thursday, December 17.
