A RECORD amount of money has been raised for charity at the 23rd annual Yorkshire Young Achievers Awards.

The glittering ceremony raised over £46,000 for the Yorkshire Young Achievers Foundation, which helps young people in Yorkshire and the projects that support them.

The awards celebrate young stars, such as eight-year-old Bailey Matthews, who won the Personality of the Year award after completing his first triathlon despite having cerebral palsy.

Since the awards started, over £1m has been raised.

Chairman Peter McCormick of sponsors McCormicks Solicitors of Harrogate, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our sponsors, supporters and guests [...] and I cannot thank them enough for their continuing commitment to help young people achieve their full potential.”
