Carving out a niche can be difficult in the run up to Halloween - but Farmer Copleys is pulling plenty in for its annual Pumpkin Festival.

Youngsters can enjoy picking their favourite crop from Ravensknowle Farm near Pontefract – the biggest of which weighs in at 46kg.

Orange, white, green, and yellow pumpkins can be chosen and carved at the site during the event.

Assistant retail manager Jennifer Painter said: “We’re the biggest pumpkin festival in the UK. It’s definitely my favourite time of year.”

The festival at the Pontefract Road farm runs until October 31 and includes facepainting and toffee apples.
