Power from waste plant planned at former Kellingley Colliery site

Plans to build a £200m power plant at Kellingley Colliery will create dozens of new jobs, according to developers.

Peel Environmental hopes to submit a planning application to Wakefield Council early next year for the Southmoor Energy Centre – which would create 38 full time jobs and power 63,000 homes.

The energy facility at Kellingley, near Knottingley, would burn up to 28,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste a year
