Police watchdog informed after man found with serious injuries in Wakefield city centre

POLICE are continuing to appeal for information after a 44-year-old Polish man was found with serious neck and leg injures in Wakefield city centre yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Quebec Street just before 1pm.

The man was today still being treated at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield.

Det Chf Insp Elizabeth Belton of West Yorkshire Police Protective Services, said: “Enquiries into how this man came to receive these serious injuries are ongoing but current indications are there were no suspicious circumstances.

“Officers are waiting to speak to the man as his condition improves.

“Due the male having previous recent contact with the police the matter has been referred to the IPCC (Independent Poilce Complaints Commission.”
