Police investigating a street robbery which left a 77-year-old woman in hospital have released a CCTV image of the suspect.

The victim was attacked in Somerville Avenue, Seacroft, between 4pm and 4.20pm on Tuesday.

The attacker threatened her and grabbed her bag. She was dragged to the ground and received severe swelling and bruising and is still being treated in hospital following the incident.

The suspect was described as a white male wearing a blue coat.

Acting Detective Sergeant Kevin Daly, of Leeds District Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: “The victim was left very badly shaken and in a lot of pain and we urgently need to find the man who did this.

“We have checked CCTV in the area and have found this image that we believe to be the suspect. Although his face is not visible we hope someone may recognise him from his clothing or have seen him in the area around the time of the offence.”
