Police hunt for violent Leeds parkland sex attacker

A teenage girl was reportedly attacked and raped as she walked along a path through urban parkland in south Leeds.

The 15-year-old victim was on the path close to Moor Road, Hunslet Moor, Leeds, at around 7.20pm on Sunday when she was approached by man who pushed her to the ground.

He then subjected her to what police termed a "serious sexual assault" before he fled, leaving his victim distraught.

The attack is believed to have taken place around 200 to 300 yards from the 16-storey Crescent Towers and Crescent Grange blocks of 1960s flats. Detectives specially trained in dealing with victims of sexual assaults were last night caring for the girl yesterday as other West Yorkshire police appealed for witnesses and information.

The man said to have attacked the girl is described as having a tanned appearance, between 5ft 7in and 6ft tall and of medium build, with shaggy hair.

He had big round eyes with bushy eyebrows and wore dark clothing.

Anyone who was in the Moor Road area and witnessed the incident, or has information which can identify the above man, is asked to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team on 0845 6060606.
