Plate prevention: Police help target vehicle crime

Motorists were offered crime prevention advice on a plate in a bid to stop them being a victim of vehicle crime.

Police officers from the Aireborough and Wharfedale Neighbourhood Policing Team fitted more than 50 vehicle number plate screws at West Side Retail Park.

The Prevention on a Plate Initiative helps to prevent the registration plates being removed from vehicles and used in crime.

PCSO Mark Kelly and PCSO Peter Andrews were joined by Gary Hewitt, the chairman of the local Neighbourhood Watch.

Sgt Jane Franks, from Otley Police Station, said: “The day was a great success with in excess of 50 vehicles being processed.”
