The cream of the world’s press will be hosted at a state-of-the-art media centre for the start of the Tour de France in central Leeds.
More than 2,000 journalists are set to base themselves at the centre at MEPC’s Leeds site, in Wellington Place, in temporary structures that will host film interviews, press conferences and writing facilities.
Elite riders taking part in the Tour, which will roll through Yorkshire on July 5 and 6, can also use the centre, alongside their support teams, for kitting up and organising essential equipment.
The facility, which Tour organisers have released images of, can also be used as a base and information centre from which journalists and media crews can travel to the race routes.
Dominique Simcox, marketing manager at MEPC, said: “We are delighted to be playing our part in helping to showcase this wonderful region to a global audience of around 3.5bn in 190 countries.” Wellington Place is a mixed-use property development which hosts a business community boasting names including Allianz, Sky and Towers Watson.
