Has the President of the United States joined the Wacky Races? Surprisingly not.

This weird and wonderful, handmade creation is in fact named ‘Ronald Pump’ and is a homemade soapbox vehicle ready to go for glory at a Red Bull racing event in London this month.

Ronald Pump has been created by the Pudsey-based Hair Force One soapbox team, who will compete against the clock in a downhill race along a 450m course complete with ramps and bends at Alexandra Palace on July 9.

In 2015 the fastest course run was 34.4 seconds with a top speed of over 47.4km/h or 29.5mph.

More than 70 teams are set to take part this year and event organisers say it promises to be “the most fun, colourful and thrilling road race in the UK.”
