POLICE sealed off part of inner-city west Leeds today after a a body was found in the Leeds-Liverpool canal.

The body was spotted by a member of the public in the canal near the railway viaduct in Kirkstall.

Police were contacted at about 6 am.

Police said the body was that of a man and that at the moment there are no suspicious circumstances.

Lists of missing persons are being checked.

Further details are expected later today.
