An Olympian wowed the crowds with a display of gymnastics at the opening of a new trampoline park.

Oxygen Freejumping’s new branch at Cardigan Fields on Kirkstall Road launched with a guest appearance from London 2012 trampolinist Kat Driscoll, the British number one.

Leeds Rhinos legend Kylie Leuluai completed the line-up of sports stars as the centre opened its doors to the public.

Kat’s performance impressed onlookers, including Lord Mayor Coun Gerry Harper.

The first visitors were able to try out the park’s assault course, gymnastics performance area and dodgeball court, with the city’s dodge team invited to test the facility.

The centre is working in partnership with the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, which delivers sports projects to the local community, and in future plans to offer fitness classes, dodgeball tournaments and DJ nights.

The £1.6million park has 60 staff and is open to all ages, with dedicated sessions for under fives available.

“I have helped Oxygen launch their last four trampoline parks and each time I have been delighted to see so many people trying the sport for the first time. Oxygen provides the facilities for anyone to have a go; there are even performance areas for those who want to try and reach the Olympics one day. It’s also simply a load of fun so breaks down barriers to trying out trampolining. I can’t wait for the next one!” said Kat Driscoll.
