Desperate owners frantically called 999 when their yellow Labrador fell down the rock face into the waves below on Saturday afternoon.

The hound managed to cling onto the rocks as the lifeboat rushed to help. The crew of the D-696 Anna Stock managed to pluck the dog from peril at Brean Down in Weston-super-Mare. A RNLI spokesman said: “The lifeboat crew made sure the dog was in good health, despite a few scratches from his ordeal, before deciding to walk it back up Brean Down.
