Legendary rapper and actor Snoop Doggy Dogg caused a stir when he touched down at Leeds Bradford International Airport today.
The Drop it Like it’s Hot rapper landed in the city after flying in from Rome this afternoon ahead of a performance at the Control nightclub this evening.
The appearance comes on Snoop’s 43rd birthday.
The airport welcomed the rapper by tweeting: “Nice to see @SnoopDogg landing @LBIAirport today. Have a great time in the UK at the @MOBOAwards”.
Earlier in the day he had tweeted that he was flying to the UK from Italy and later posted pictures of him posing with customs officials at Leeds Bradford Airport, remarking that “customs love me”, a sly reference to the fact that he has faced problems with airport officials in the past.
Snoop first rose to prominence under the tutelage of Dr Dre collaborating on the hugely successful the Chronic album in 1992.
His debut album Doggystyle sold 30 million records worldwide and he has remained one of the planet’s biggest rap stars since, being the only hip hop artist to perform at the 2005 Live8 concerts.
He has also enjoyed a successful acting career appearing as Huggy Bear in the Starsky and Hutch remake and providing a cameo role in the Oscar nominated Training Day.
