A NOTORIOUS drinking den in Leeds city centre is set to be transformed into a new bar.

Former troublespot Big Lil’s is set to undergo a huge makeover, with plans for a rooftop bar, street food area, indoor bar and stage.

The site at the old Bramley’s Yard is nestled just off The Headrow and over the years earned somewhat of a reputation.

It previously shut down in 2004 after a string of violent incidents.

But we can’t let the past cast a shadow over the future, and there seems to be quite a lot of exciting things in store for the site.

As City Buzz previously revealed, the Beacons Metro Festival will host a series of events at the venue in October.

The festival, which was previously called Beacons Festival, had originally been held in Skipton, however this year the organisers decided they would move it to Leeds city centre instead.

The new venue will be a big project, as building is almost derelict and boasts around 11,000sq ft of space and is spread over three floors, with two rooftop areas.

The rooftop bars should be the stars of the show, offering a brand new view across the city centre. We can’t wait!
