They have a wealth of knowledge and can be found on virtually every shopping street.
And now we want to recognise those fabulous pharmacists who provide an amazing service for their patients.
Community pharmacists now offer a range of services over and above just dispensing medicines, including advice and checks for various conditions.
We want to hear about those top pharmacists who deserve to be recognised in the Yorkshire Evening Post Best of Health Awards, which are sponsored by Sovereign Health Care.
Last year this was one of the most popular categories and there’s still time to put forward your favourite pharmacist in the 2014 awards.
Nicola Furbisher, managing editor of the Yorkshire Evening Post, said: “This category was so well-supported last year which just shows how strongly people feel about their local pharmacist.
“We heard some really touching stories of how pharmacists had gone out of their way for patients, delivering to their home or contacting them out of hours.
“There must be many more patients with similar stories to tell – and we want to hear about them so we can give these fantastic pharmacists the praise they deserve.”
Last year’s winner was Rashid Bhamani, from Allied (Middleton) Pharmacy, who was said to “always have time” for his customers, and made special effort to remember their individual health needs. Now we want to find another superstar like him – readers have just over a week left to nominate.
We’re also still accepting nominations in the other categories, including for dedicated doctors, nurses, midwives and dentists, as well as emergency response workers, mental health staff, carers, teams and unsung heroes.
