Singing their praises: This is for all those people who work behind-the-scenes for little recognition – this is their chance to shine.
And through this category, we want to highlight those unsung heroes.
They could work in any area of healthcare or do any job in the field, and they may work directly with patients, or they may not – but are still invaluable.
We want to recognise the people who work tirelessly, but don’t always get noticed.
They could be volunteers who help people at hospitals, cleaners who make sure the environment is safe or admin workers who recognise their crucial contribution to the system.
Or they could help improve services for patients, or may be a patient themselves who raises awareness or funds.
Last year’s winner was Karen Stead, who has been treated for pancreatic cancer, one of the most aggressive types of the disease.
She was described as an “inspiration” because of her work to raise awareness of the disease, improve support for patients and fundraising for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre in Leeds.
This year we are looking for someone just as deserving of recognition – if you know them, nominate your unsung hero.
