Have your say

If you know of a brilliant midwife who helps support mums and even keeps dads calm, it’s time to put them forward for this award.

They help bring new lives safely into the world – and now we want to thank marvellous midwives.

Whether working in the community or based in one of the two maternity units in Leeds hospitals, we want to know about those who have proved a fantastic support for women during times when they may need it most.

The work of West Yorkshire midwives was highlighted by the two series of Channel 4’s One Born Every Minute programme.

Through the show, viewers got to know some of the members of the profession in Leeds and see what challenges they face on a day-to-day basis.

And with this award, we want to hear about the midwives who helped bring your bundle of joy into the world.

Last year’s winner was Chris Harding, a community midwife in Bradford, who was praised for always seeing mums at short notice and described as “amazing” and “absolutely dedicated”.

One mum said she delivered a baby when she wasn’t on duty, and then later made extra efforts to check on her patient when complications set in.

If you know a midwife like Chris, who has gone that extra mile for the good of her patients, this is your chance to thank them publicly.
