Hundreds of residents gathered on one street in Chapel Allerton yesterday (June 7) for the annual Big Lunch get-together.

Regent Street, in the centre of the suburb, was closed to traffic for the community join forces for a special party.

Generations of visitors enjoyed live music and a barbecue, which was laid on by the Regent pub.

Organised by the Chapel Allerton Residents’ Association (CARA), this year’s event also saw the winners crowned in the third annual Chapel Allerton Awards.

The group, which is run entirely by volunteers, was set up to encourage greater interaction within the community and to raise money for local good causes.
