A former public toilet block within Roundhay Park is getting closer to its new life as a restaurant.

Planning chiefs approved the proposal in November last year to create a two-storey cafe on the Princess Avenue site next to Oakwood District Centre. Now, bosses at agents Stoneacre Properties say they have had some well-known restaurant names express an interest in setting up at the development. Director Ben Jacobs said: “It will be interesting to see who gets in there. It’s all coming together now. It will be one of the biggest investments that there has been around there.”

He said demolition on the site should start shortly before work begins in August or September time.
