The Roman Catholic Diocese of Leeds has a new Bishop – after a two-and-a-half year wait.

Marcus Stock, from the Diocese of Birmingham, was consecrated in St Anne’s Cathedral in Leeds in a three-hour service yesterday.

The main celebrant was The Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster, Vincent Nichols, along with The Archbishop of Birmingham Bernard Longley and Archbishop Arthur Roche – former Catholic Bishop of Leeds, who left the position for a role in Rome in 2012.

Bishop Stock, 53, is the 10th Catholic Bishop of Leeds but the first to be ordained in Leeds Cathedral since 1957.
