A new dramatic piece of artwork has been installed in Wakefield as the first of its kind in England.

The Global Angel Wings street art has been painted onto an outside wall at the city’s The Riddings Shopping Centre.

The artwork, pictured, depicts a pair of human-sized angel wings.

People are encouraged to stand in front of the wings to capture photographs with the artwork as a backdrop at the city centre shopping facility.

The artwork was created by international artist Colette Miller. Based in LA, Miller created the Global Angel Wings project in her home city in 2012, and has since painted wings around the world.

She said: “I’m really excited to be bringing the Global Angel Wings project to Wakefield and Yorkshire and I’ve read about its layered and fascinating history.”
