Murder investigation launched after woman found dead in Pontefract

Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a woman was found dead at an address in Pontefract.

Officers were called to Park Lane at around 10.30pm on Wednesday by ambulance staff.

The body of a woman, who is believed to be in her 80s, was discovered inside the property.

A post mortem will follow in due course.

Police have arrested a 54-year-old man on suspicion of murder and he remains in custody at this time.

Enquiries remain ongoing.
