Charities helping people to benefit from the record-breaking Mission Christmas toy appeal have gathered for a celebratory lunch.

Thanks to kind donations from Yorkshire Evening Post readers as well as residents and businesses across West Yorkshire, the annual appeal distributed more than £900,000 worth of gifts to more than 17,000 children in the region.

The appeal, organised by 96.3 Radio Aire’s Cash for Kids charity, distributed gifts to children linked to charities including Barnardo’s, Getaway Girls, Martin House Hospice and Leeds Children’s Hospital among others for Christmas.

Leeds restaurant Gaucho, in Park Row, donated three-course meals for around 100 people linked to charities who benefitted from the appeal in late December. Diners were serenaded by X Factor star and Cash for Kids patron Jack Walton.
