Three masked raiders stole a large amount of jewellery after forcing their way into an 87-year-old man’s home in Leeds.

The men also threatened the elderly victim during the aggravated burglary on Upper Lombard Street in Rawdon, which happened at about 2pm yesterday.

Police have described the items that were stolen as “Asian gold jewellery”. All three of the raiders are believed to be white.

Det Con Clive Newman, from West Yorkshire Police’s Leeds District Crime Team, said: “The victim was not physically injured but he was left badly shaken by what was clearly a very frightening experience.

“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the street in the time leading up to it.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who has been offered Asian gold jewellery for sale in suspicious circumstances.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Newman via the police’s 101 number or the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555111.
