A man has appeared in court charged over an armed robbery at a Leeds village post office.

Martin James Pick, 38, is accused of stealing £1,900 from Boston Spa post office on Monday morning.

It is alleged he and another man donned wigs, hats and trenchcoats to raid the High Street branch at 9.30am.

During a brief hearing at Leeds Magistrates’ Court, Pick, of Willow Avenue, Clifford, in Wetherby, spoke only to confirm his name.

The charges were outlined before he was remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court on April 9.

A 32-year-old woman, who was arrested in connection with the incident, has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
